one choice for wedding reception entertainment. Please

and CONGRATULATIONS from your favorite band,
THE
KC ALL STARS!
Please feel
free to print out this timeline and make your own changes,
this is only a sample timeline.
Your time line
may differ from this one - we just picked the most common
wedding reception schedule
6:30pm
- Guests Arrive - Background Music (iPod) - Cocktails (The
KC All Stars can provide all of the DJ music for your
evening OR
many couples prefer
to make their own playlists on their iPod and give it to the
band to run)
iPOD Instructions!
- If you are planning on programming your own iPod for your
reception please visit our
Wedding Reception Songs - iPod page for instructions.
7:00pm
- Bride and Groom arrive and are announced to the guests.
If you want the band to announce your entire wedding party
we will need you to
email us a phonetically spelled out list of the names).
Pick out a cool song for the intros
- some examples are "Jock Jams (Let's Get Ready to Rumble)",
or the theme from "Rocky" etc.
7:15pm
- Cake Cutting Ceremony - it's good to cut the cake right
away - the attention is still on the couple from the
introduction, and you don't want to have to get everyone's
attention over the microphone too many times in a night - it
gets irritating and slows the party down -
(you will probably be running behind
schedule anyway - 90% of weddings run behind schedule)
- and many times cutting the cake early in the evening gives
the caterers more time to cut it and get it ready to serve.
Do NOT have your cake positioned in the middle of the dance
floor! The band will not perform while the cake is
sitting on the dance floor and it looks crazy sloppy when
the caterers have to come out and move it.
7:30pm
- Dinner (Sometimes a blessing is said before dinner
is announced)
8:15pm
- Toasts (Best Man, Maid of Honor, Parents, etc.)
8:30pm
- Bride and Groom First Dance - It is recommended that the
first dance be played on an iPod. There are two reasons for
this: (1) Your guests are very curious and anxious to hear
what the band sounds like. This means that their
attention will be on the band instead of the couple.
(2) The KC All Stars do not learn songs on request.
Most couples' first dance songs are not on our playlist and
we do not learn songs. We are a PARTY band - not a
bunch of old geezers with music stands on the stage.
8:35pm
- Father of the Bride and Bride Dance - (iPod)
8:40pm
- Mother of the Groom and Groom Dance - (iPod) - You can
combine the father of the bride and mother of groom dance by
starting with the father of the bride and then inviting the
mother of the groom to join midway through the song.
8:45pm
- Entire Bridal Party Dance - (iPod) - Bridal Party Dance is
optional
8:50pm
- Band Starts - please have the venue turn the lights down
when the band starts - people don't like to get on the dance
floor if the lights are too bright - plus The KC All Stars
have a KILLER light show.
9:30pm
- Band Break - The first set that the band plays will be the
shortest and will be mostly old school songs / typical
wedding songs so that mom and dad and grandma and grandpa
will be happy. We will then break and WHEN WE COME
BACK and get ready to do the second set it's a good time to
do the bouquet / garter toss. Pick out a couple of fun
songs for the tosses - "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" is
popular for the bouquet toss and "Oh Yeah" (Ferris Beuler's
Day Off Song) for the Garter toss - or whatever songs you
want. The band will be onstage and will get "all the
single ladies / guys on the floor" as well as do a drum
roll, etc.
10pm- Band's Second Set - This set is usually a little more
upbeat since your guests have had more to drink by now.
11:30 / 11:45
- Last Call - The KC All Stars will play their last song and
then DJ a couple of songs while people are leaving.
12am -
The KC All Stars will not perform past 12am.
NOTE:
The KC All Stars will not contract for
more than 5 1/2 hours total. So if your
reception starts at 5pm, The KC All Stars will only provide
service until 10:30pm latest. If you think that your
guests will have enough energy to party from 5pm all the way
to 12am then The KC All Stars would begin providing DJ /
Performance / Announcement service at 6:30pm. You will
be on your own from 5pm - 6:30pm.
The KC All Stars
provide use of their microphones for announcements from you
and your guests. |
